FAQ : MiniaTuria Mod 1.12.2

Questions Regarding Installation

I don't understand how to install MiniaTuria Mod.
  • See the explanation in “How to install the Mod”.
  • There is a video on YouTube that explains how to install MiniaTuria for your reference!
OptiFine and Forge, I don't know how to put both in!
I was able to install the mod properly, but I can't launch Minecraft (I can launch it, but it's overloaded).
  • Maybe you don't have enough memory allocated for minecraft? MiniaTuria doesn't have enough memory in Minecraft's default settings (2 GB RAM) and I'm getting choppy behavior!
  • You must change the settings, so look here! → “How to install the Mod”.
  • If your PC has 4GB or 8GB of memory (internal RAM), it may be difficult to play MiniaTuria...
  • To begin with, you may want to check to see if your PC's display is properly connected to the graphics board.
The mod is in, but the textures don't connect nicely.
  • MiniaTuria Mod doesn't connect to the textures just by inserting the mod (jar file). Make sure that MiniaTuria resource pack is included! → “How to install the Mod”
  • Make sure OptiFine is in there (if it is, you can see it on the top screen of Minecraft!)
  • OptiFine
  • If OptiFine is on, go to “Settings” > “Video Settings” > “Quality Settings” and set “Connected Textures” item to “Fancy”! This feature is called “CTM” (Connected Textures Mod)
  • CTM
The textures have changed to those of MiniaTuria, but no additional blocks appear.
  • You haven't succeeded in installing the Mod. Follow the instructions here! → “How to install the Mod”
  • Once the mod is in properly, you should see a lot more creative tabs and additional blocks there
  • tabs
I thought I had the MiniaTuria Mod, but I don't know where the additional blocks and the MiniaTuria Hammer are.
  • First, look at the previous question.
  • Once the mod is in place, there will be an arrow on the image that you can click on to turn the tab page. The hammer is on the next page!
  • tabs tabs

Questions Regarding Game Play

Can I play in Survival mode?
  • MiniaTuria Mod 1.12.2 cannot be played in Survival mode. This is because there are a large number of additional blocks, and recipes for crafting them at workbenches, etc., have not been set.
Are there blocks with vanilla textures?
  • Actually, yes... Some of the vanilla block textures are still not ready, so please wait a little longer 🙏 (As of April 2025)
What are vanilla blocks?
  • "Vanilla" refers to the original state without any customization or modifications, but in Minecraft, it generally refers to the default blocks and textures that are included from the start.
Can I use it with other texture mods?
  • You might need at least 8 GB of allocated memory. Depending on your PC's memory, using multiple mods simultaneously is possible.
  • When using it with other block-adding mods, installing the JEI (Just Enough Items) mod may also be necessary.
  • However, when using the resource packs of each mod at the same time, there is a tendency for issues where vanilla block textures (such as natural scenery) do not display as intended by each pack... This happens because the texture from the higher pack overwrites the one from the lower pack. Please use them with this in mind.
  • MiniaTuria recommends using this texture pack on its own.
It gets choppy and heavy after playing for a while.
  • This can happen... it feels like memory garbage is accumulating. Restarting Minecraft should fix it.
  • We will be working on reducing the load through programming to address this issue in the future! The results will be in an update...
The villagers are strange!
  • The villagers' textures are still in the production stage... Since we’ve been modifying the 3D models, their heads might look strange. We'll fix this soon, sorry!
Is the JEI (Just Enough Items) mod required?
  • This mod removes the limit on the number of additional block IDs, but it is not required if you are only using MiniaTuria without any other block-adding mods.
The WorldEdit CUI selection lines are invisible when using MiniaTuria Mod.
  • Try checking "Always on top" in the WorldEdit CUI settings.

Questions Regarding shadow bugs and shaders

When I place a mod block, it turns completely black.
  • This sometimes happens when you move 3D textures using tools like WorldEdit... You can fix it by breaking or placing an adjacent block, which updates the area and resets the block.
  • You can also fix it using WE commands. Check out this video for an explanation → YouTube "MiniaTuria Author's Builds" #2 (4:35~)
  • You can also fix it using FAWE. Select the affected area using pos → Disable lighting with //removelight → Fix lighting with //fixlighting → Deselect the area.
Which shaders work best with MiniaTuria?
  • Personally, I like BSL Shaders v7 or later and Chocapic13 v8 or later, as they make MiniaTuria blocks' colors stand out. I plan to write a guide on shader settings sometime...
  • There are also blogs that explain how to adjust shaders for MiniaTuria in detail, so try searching for them!
After installing shaders, MiniaTuria's textures look strange.
  • Using an older shader version can cause textures to appear cut diagonally. Try using a relatively new shader! (For example, KUDA is an amazing shader, but it's not recent, so it can cause texture glitches...)
  • shaderbug
Minecraft crashes after installing MiniaTuria and shaders.
  • The allocated memory for Minecraft is insufficient.
